September 2007, Newsletter
Greetings fellow club members. The first order of business is to be sure to
remember the September 19th meeting at
This is the first newsletter in a few months so there is a lot to catch up on. I apologize for the lack of newsletters, it seems that the summer has just slipped away on me. I think everyone will agree that we had an awesome show this year. We were very fortunate that we probably had the nicest 3 days of the whole summer for our show. It always scares me a little bit at our meetings that we don’t seem to be as organized as we could be but when the time comes for the show everything falls right into place.
Jenny will have the final numbers as to what our profit for the 2007 show was at the September meeting. So that is another good reason to attend. The tractor raffle was a huge success. We also had a good showing from the Oliver folks. They provided us with some unique tractors that many show goers commented on that they had never seen before. I always hesitate to thank member and non-members for projects and tasks that they do for the show for the fear of missing someone. But several members need to be recognized. Larry did an outstanding job of leading the way and handling problems as they arose. If we get him a John Deere tractor next year he won’t have to work on his white IHC the whole show next year. This was Jenny’s first year as treasurer and she did an excellent job. Ken and Cathy did an outstanding job with all the pulling that went on and on and on and on. As always Fred and Ellie Bishop went above and beyond the call of duty collecting from willing merchants. Don and Sandy Badder did their usual thing, taking a week out of their summer to make the show successful. Charlie Cusack gave us another great pulling track. Jenny and her friends did an awesome job with the “Kids Korner.” Dick Baker and Scott Benedict were always there when someone needed something moved. Toote Weber (Marky’s wife) sold enough tickets to pay for the tractor. Thanks Toote. Carol Nurenberg did a great job with the information booth, silent auction and the T-shirt sales. Earl Benedict provided informative interviews with exhibitors showing machinery. Al did his usual great job with the camping. Gary Larson is like Under Dog, he’s everywhere, he’s everywhere. Jill did an outstanding job with the gates. Dave Cunningham for scraping the track for 3 days. I know I missed some people who did a lot of work and I apologize.
Next year we will be featuring John Deere at our 2008 show. I am still working on getting the Ford national show for 2009 or 2010. We are putting plans in place for the 2008 show.
Nurenberg Says: I had a great time at this year’s show. I must admit I was just a little skeptical after the show we had last year with the IHC folks. But thanks to all of you and your hard work and bright ideas it turned out to be great. Everyone I talked to had a good time. Two guys I didn’t mention in the thank you group were Bill Kneale and Marky Weber. Have you ever seen a father and son work together better than that?
Thanks, LeRoy
